In response to Matt's questions.
The mere fact that we are communicating via blog signifies the progress of the privileged world. From the 1980s when the the web was created, opportunities have been endless. Technology opened up the world to the web but the web has opened up the world to opportunities. People now choose to educate themselves online rather than travelling to universities. In work places, webcamming or conference calls allow interaction and reduce movement. Internet banking has reduced the need to step out to rejiggle your finances. Does anyone else believe that in some situations technology has produced a more static society which is reluctant to move our their chairs?
I think that Matt's right. The revolution and evolution of technology has created a divide, it is evident on a global scale but also a local and private scale. In today's current society, many children are bullied for not owning the popular gadgets. Technology is not always accessible to some in society.
We perceive technology as an advantage. But as I touched on in my blog entry, does it really compensate for the loss of personal interaction?
